DEIJ Needs Assessment Update
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEIJ) Task Force of the Arizona Association of School Psychologists has completed the AASP DEIJ Needs Assessment survey of Arizona certified/practicing school psychologists and school psychology students to evaluate belongingness and inclusion within the association. Thank you to those who were able to complete the survey. The information gained from this survey is being used to help inform AASP's strategic objectives in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the association and in the field of school psychology. Overall results indicate that most respondents are supportive of AASP DEIJ efforts. There was a relatively low response rate (137 respondents); most respondents (90%) were AASP members. Specific recommendations will be discussed by the AASP Board at the annual retreat in June 2024 including determining whether to re-appoint a DEIJ Task Force (short-term) with updated project goal(s); or create an AASP DEIJ Committee (long-term) with specific strategic goals; or articulate how DEIJ perspectives are integrated across all AASP Board and Committee strategic goals.
