Join AASP's Central Region for a Mini-Series March 30-April 13, 2023. Below are the three CPD-eligible webinars offered in the mini-series.

All webinars are offered free for current AASP members (log in required). Non-members pay $5 per webinar or $12 for all three. Participation instructions will be provided after registration is completed.

March 30, 11:00am-12:30pm: "Integrating Behavioral Health in Transition Planning in Schools"
Speakers: Lauren Tomchak and Jeanette Lopez
This interactive presentation will provide you with the tools and knowledge to impact change in the social and emotional outcome of students. Participants will learn how to collaborate with families and outside agencies, specifically, behavioral health agencies. This will support student learning and secure needed services. The number of students being referred to and receiving behavioral health services continue to rise. Learn how school and behavioral health personnel can work together to address social/emotional needs of students through the IEP process. By collaborating with families and fostering self-advocacy, we CAN make a difference.

  1. Learn how school and behavioral health personnel can work together to address social/emotional needs of students
  2. Learn about incorporating outside behavioral health supports as part of the post-secondary transition process

Speaker: John Balles, PhD, NCSP
In this webinar, Dr. Balles will cover the purpose of BID meetings, the roles of various agencies involved, decision making processes, and resolutions of disagreements. We will also walk through various scenarios using the DCS BID decision making forms.

  1. Learn about the purpose of a BID meeting and the different roles of various agencies involved
  2. Understand the decision making processes using the DCS BID decision making forms and how these outcomes might impact students

In this webinar, Whitney Mikkelson will cover DDD processes, eligibility and services.

  1. Learn about how individuals meet eligibility for services with Arizona's Department of Developmental Disabilities
  2. Discover what services are available through DDD, and how school-based practitioners can assist students and families in accessing services
