Navigating Pathways to Autism During Preschool

Please join AASP for this virtual event. With new ADE eligibility options available beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, preschool teams, as well as psychologists working on transition to kindergarten evaluations, have eligibility options not previously available. Identifying Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in this young group can present a particular challenge. Dr. Way and Dr. Lilly will help teams navigate preschool evaluations, with a particular emphasis on identifying ASD. Preschool evaluation teams to include teachers, speech pathologists, and occupational therapists are encouraged to attend.

CPDs will be offered! 

Time: 11:00am- 1:00pm

Objectives:

1. Identify best practices for determining autism eligibility during Child Find and preschool-to-kindergarten transition evaluations, including when and how to assess.

2. Explore tools and methods used in autism evaluations for young children.

3. Discuss the impact of the new concurrent eligibility practice on Child Find teaming, evaluations, and the transition to kindergarten.
